Moschino: the S / S 2015 Collection at the Milan Fashion Week

Jeremy Scott, creative director of Moschino, chooses Barbie as a new icon of the collection spring / summer 2015: “Made in plastic”, it’s fantastic!

If last season Jeremy Scott , creative director of the fashion house Moschino, had us entertained with unexpected SpongeBob and Mc Donald’s outfits, the spring-summer 2015 seems to have every intention of returning to amaze us, presenting a collection inspired icon more “made in plastic” and super blondie ever: Barbie is back!

I’m a Barbie girl in a Barbie World

The lights come up on the catwalk of Moschino and the atmosphere is immediately fun and exciting: the first  Barbie Girls make their appearance, smiling, naive, more than ever, with a layer glossy on the body, in order to recreate the typical plastic patina, voluminous wigs platinum blonde or raven black, flashy neon lips, the air airhead  and the typical “pose” as Barbie, with joined hands and arms slightly stiffened. The first outfits that follow each other relentlessly on the catwalk remember the nineties dresses worn by our darlings Kelly, Brenda and Donna at the time of the television series Beverly Hills 90210: skimpy skirts and high-waisted hot pink top, shorts and tank tops micro-glitter, oversized sweaters with Moschino written repeated everywhere, with the same Barbie graphics. Sheath dresses in bright fuchsia vinyl, track suits that become super chic when worn with the accessory most loved by Miss Barbie, her clogs, plastic-coated, “School is cool” huge backpacks in wearing style with ease on one shoulder.

By “Mattel box” seem to come out right all the darlings of our childhood: there Hostess Barbie, with trolley and care glasses, there is a picture of Barbie with a nostalgic analogue color pastel yellow included, Fitness Barbie , Barbie Rock Star with bag It shaped Stereo eighties and even Barbie on skates, coming out from behind the scenes strides and smiles to all whirling on itself. There is also a modern version of Barbie beauty queen with a mirror that turns the cover super glamorous for your smartphone . We bet that along with the bag-shaped heeled shoe will become a must-have for next season?

Come on Barbie, let’s go party!

The atmosphere will light color with the first pop prints, in perfect style nineties , on mini-shorts and camisoles with necklines “heart” or connected to life, on maxi-sweaters on which blacks appear crackling orange polka dots, purple, pink and green neon. Even the firstspongy tissues make their appearance, on jackets and dresses of shades pastel yellow or bright blue, on clothes-robe and white turbans glitterati that can be used with the same nonchalant for a pool party or cocktails- version dress for the evening. Jeremy Scott seems to learn all about the world’s most famous doll ever and plays cleverly with proportions, staying true to the original ones: a micro-bag quilted heart-shaped or mini-suitcases in fluorescent plastic transparent alternates extra-size inflatable bags, the necklaces in neon tones with interwoven chain and huge diamond on her finger are definitely too much in line with those that are the size of the true eccentric and inimitable American doll. As well as the huge giant sequins and bows that deluge clothes, or pendants star and circles with the symbol of “peace and love” that seem to remember closely those worn in a cartoon eighties / nineties most beloved of all time, will remember the rock band of the Jem and the Holograms?
The atmosphere seems to go back a few years to nostalgic Fifties and Sixties with sunglasses in the shape of cat-eyes, the scarf tied around her head wisely, neutral colors like black and beige on a trench coat with gilt buttons obviously oversize and the hairstyles with bonnets and cotonature from curler.

The final part of the show can only be reserved for evening wear the most glamorous of all time: a richly draped sheath dress on orange tones are enriched with extra-size flakes, a pink dress is enhanced by a long series of ruffles and ruffles for the headdress and skirt, a bubble skirt in electric blue (remember the rubber band that could be used indifferently on everything, even to tie our hair?), a mermaid dress in golden fabric iridescent a Thousand and one Nights, a costume Xena, warrior Princess,  with bodice and shorts in metallic gold and boots to the knee, and finally the ‘pearly long pink dress, studded with huge mirrored sequins and decorated by a long series of ruffles in wingspan and hologram fabric on the back with a train.

Barbie and celebs

Jeremy Scott even seems not to have wanted to save a shot to give the right parterre a truly final fireworks. Excessive? Perhaps, but certainly we are looking forward to Miss Miley Cyrus, the most enthusiastic supporter of the fashion designer, make a show of some of his stunning creation maybe on the red carpet! At the Milanese fashion days, we have also not been able to appreciate that the homage done to the house from the Italian fashion-bloggers hailed the moment, Chiara Ferragni, which on several occasions has exhibited a total Moschino look. That is, power to the blondes!
